I hope this finds you being a badass. Let’s get to it.

“Courage is not something that you already have that makes you brave when the tough times start. Courage is what you earn when you’ve been through the tough times and you discover they aren’t so tough after all.”
~ Malcolm Gladwell, David and Goliath

Google Keep

  • Getting stuff done is badass, and this helps you do that.
  • Keep is a free app/extension for the Google Chrome browser for creating notes, reminders, and checklists. You can also add photos.
  • It works on your phone, tablet, computer and Android wearables. Everything you add syncs across all devices.
  • This is cool: You can set a location-based reminder, e.g. your grocery list pops up right when you get to the store. Get some cookies for me please.

Hardstyle/RKC Plank (YouTube Video)

  • Hardstyle is the type of training (mostly kettlebell) popularized by Pavel Tsatsouline (remember him from the Fighter Pullup Program in Badass 1?).
  • RKC is the Russian Kettlebell Certification program. They also teach hardstyle.
  • Planks can be challenging. I’m not sure I would call them badass*. Hardstyle planks are.
  • To do a hardstyle plank:
  1. Get into a plank, which is like the top position of a push-up but you’re on your forearms instead of your hands.
  2. Look straight down at the floor and keep a neutral head/neck at all times.
  3. Elbows should be slightly in front of shoulders and slightly narrower than shoulder-width.
  4. Hands are tight hammerfists! Smash! Your fists can touch or be slightly apart.
  5. Contract your quads.
  6. Squeeze your butt as hard as you can.
  7. The key: Now try to drag your elbows toward your toes and your toes toward your elbows.
  8. This should set your entire body on fire.
  9. Breathe in shallow, hard hisses to keep tension.
  10. Hold until you feel like you’re going to shake apart (5-10 seconds).
  11. Recover and repeat for a set of 5.

*The current world record for holding a plank is 5 hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds. That’s not just badass, it’s bananas.
